Sensei Oanh Loi-Powell -
Shodan

Oanh began her
life in the US after fleeing Vietnam in 1975 during the
aftermath of the Vietnam War. After earning a Bachelor of Science
in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and
a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music,
Oanh began her varied and exciting career with Ameritech as a
Network Engineer, a Systems Designer and a Process Consultant.
While juggling career and home life, she also earned an MBA in
Systems Control from Baldwin-Wallace College. After 12 years
in corporate America, Oanh decided to leave it all behind for the
leisurely life of a stay-at-home Mom ;-) Her most important
job now is raising her three children: Tyler, Evan and Liana, who
are the joy of her life. Oanh still stays active in several
organizations including serving on the Board of Director of the
Northeastern Ohio Science & Engineering Fair, and being a Girl Scout
Leader and coaching the Science Olympiad teams. Oanh’s hobbies
include reading, gardening, cooking, photography, music and
computers. Achieving Shodan is the icing on the cake as martial
arts has evolved into a way for the entire family to be involved in
each other’s busy lives.
